Biography
Laura Jean Bransky
Film / Commercial Director
Raised in a one-stoplight town outside of Joshua Tree, California, Bransky’s passion for visual storytelling began in childhood, directing countless plays starring her siblings and cousins. She studied Film & Media at the University of California Santa Barbara, where she graduated with Honors. Bransky has worked on over 350 film/television productions in the Los Angeles area. She gained notoriety as a Script Supervisor working alongside such legends as Brad Pitt and Steve Carell as well as on such shows as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
Bransky is known for thriving under pressure and for maintaining a fun and inspiring work environment which is driven by her small-town “it takes a village” mindset as well as her resolve for honesty both in front of the camera and behind it. She is married to her college sweetheart Austin Keller, founder of CypherBlu Lighting, Grip, & Studio Rentals, and she spends her free time reading about bronze age civilizations and exploring local museums and craft fairs.
Her directorial work ranges from stylized period pieces to kid-centric advertising campaigns. She is a champion of strong female characters and is brilliant at capturing unexpected moments of truth, especially from children. Many of her projects have won awards and screened at festivals around the world. Her short film “Things That Happen at Night” won 2nd Place at the 2017 California Women’s Film Festival, and her documentary piece “Share Hope USA” is currently being distributed by Lightbeam.tv.
